PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To write pattern data or the like among plural kinds of sewing machines by reading out information specific to the sewing machines and pattern data from each recording medium, and outputting them to an external storing means through an external communication network. SOLUTION: When a card memory key is operated during display of pattern confirmation image plane editionwise processed by combination pattern editing processing, sewing data on the combination pattern and pattern size data are stored in a sewing data memory 24, and then writing-in is made to a flash memory F/M 40b of a ROM card 40B fitted to a connector 13 or a memory card according to a remaining capacity. Thereby information specific to the sewing machines is written by the use of a common format to a plurality of sewing machines. Pattern data including sewing data of the combined pattern displayed on a pattern confirmation image plane is written in a data area. The written data can be given to friends or the like and thus pattern sewing can be made in several kinds of sewing machines.
