PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase radiation field strength to the horizontal direction of an antenna. SOLUTION: An antenna element plate 2 is formed on one face of a dielectric substrate 1, and a ground plate 3 is formed on the other face in this microstrip antenna. In this case, notched parts 5 are formed by deleting one part of the four corners of the ground plate 3. Thus, radio waves generated from the peripheral edge of the antenna element plate 2 opposed to the notches 5 through the dielectric substrate 1 can be emitted to a direction shown by arrows 11 without being closed between the antenna element plate 2 and the ground plate 3. Also, the ground plate 3 has a shape and dimension for maintaining the original function even when the notched parts 5 are formed. Therefore, radiation field strength to the front direction of the antenna which is shown by an arrow 10 can be maintained to a level almost equivalent to and over the level in the case any notched parts 5 not formed.
