PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the feed speed of continuous paper stably by setting the tension that acts on it in dependence on its thickness, material, roulettes and the like. SOLUTION: A plate 310 consists of an L-cross-sectioned plate member extending in a direction orthogonal to the feed direction of continuous paper 10. The plate 310 is urged clockwise on a pivot 312C by an urging means 320 that also urges a swing arm 315 counterclockwise about a pivot 315C. Rotation of a cam driving shaft 340A controls the position of the swing arm 315 between a first swing position indicated by the continuous line and a second swing position indicated by the alternate long and two short dashes line, with the result that an accordingly boosted or reduced urging force the urging member 320 applies to the plate 310 increases or decreases the tension a side edge 312D of an upper plate 312 gives to the continuous paper 10.
