PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely fit an original platen so that a shading error does not occur and to easily execute fitting/removing work in the fitting of the original platen. SOLUTION: A pressing member 74 is integrally formed in a front cover 70 fixed to the side board of a reader main body part by screwing so that it abuts on one end 22a of contact glass 22 as an original platen. Since the pressing member 74 pressing the original platen in a subscanning direction is integrally installed in a front cover 70, the original platen can easily be positioned and shading errors can be prevented.
