PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an image from being formed on an unnecessary white original, to save the waste of copy paper, to judge whether paper is the white original in time shorter than that when the whole faces of all the originals are read and to permit an operator to variably set a judgement position. SOLUTION: White paper judgment area setting means (an operation display part 404, an outer input control part 207 and RAM 208) for setting a white paper judgement area, white original judgment means (a center control part 200 and an image processing control part 202) inputting image information of the original, which is equivalent to the white paper judgement area, from image reading means (an image reading part 401 and a reading control part 201) and judging whether the original is the white original or not and a control means (center control part 200) controlling image processing means (an image processing part 402 and an image processing control part 202) and image output means (an image output part 493, a writing control part 203, a photosensitive body control part 204, a developing control part 205 and a paper feeding control part 206) and interrupting an image forming operation are installed.
