PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To feed pulverized coal steadily at a higher solid-gas ratio without increasing the feed gas and elevating the pressure of pulverized coal storage hoppers. SOLUTION: When fed to a blast furnace tuyere via air currents, pulverized coal is guided along a pipeline under the condition that the following formula provides: 10<=Gs/Ga<2.93×10-5×(Ua/D)3, where Gs is the pulverized coal flow rate (kg/s), Ga is the gas flow rate (kg/s), Ua is the gas flow velocity (m/s) and D is the pipeline inside diameter (m).
