The scale is based on the increase in the impedance of the sensor wire, fed by high-frequency current, as a consequence of applying the weight to the plate of the scale. The sensor element is comprised of: An amorphous magnetostrictive wire fed by an alternating high-frequency current. The changes in impedance as a result of applying weight are picked up as an increase in the electromotive force by a detector circuit. The scale makes it possible to determine the magnitude of the weight applied to the plate. The application of the scale is commercial, in weighing of objects up to 15 kg, such as foodstuffs in shops or supermarkets.
