PURPOSE: A column tube of a steering gear is provided to easily produce a shock absorbing member and to improve the combining property of an interior tube and an exterior tube by improving a structure of the shock absorbing member installed between the interior tube and the exterior tube. CONSTITUTION: An axial load of shock is applied to a steering column by an accident and the shock is absorbed by folding in a steering shaft(20) and a column tube(30). The steering shaft(20) is folded by advancing an inner shaft(22) into an inside of an outer shaft(21) during shattering a resin(23) filled in a part connected the inner and the outer shafts(22)(21) by the shock. The column tube(30) is folded by advancing an interior tube(32) into an inside of an exterior tube(31). A steel ball supported in a supporting piece between the exterior tube(31) and the interior tube(32) forms a hollow inside the exterior tube(31). When the shock added to the column tube(30) is large, the steel ball changes the interior tube(32) and the exterior tube(31) by removing the supporting piece from a supporting ring. The shock energy as the change in the interior tube(32) and the exterior tube(31) is able to be absorbed.
