PURPOSE: An apparatus for normalizing a symbol data of a wireless local loop and its method are provided when receiving symbol data from a wireless local loop to detect the operational status of fingers and appropriately normalize the symbol data for each case. CONSTITUTION: In the symbol data normalizing apparatus which easily determine four bit data symbol data transmitted from the first, second and third fingers consisting of a wireless local loop, the first, the second and the third FIFOs store four-bit symbol data transmitted from the first, second and third fingers respectively and subsequently output them. Adder adds the symbol data output from the first through third FIFOs. Controller identifies the status of the three fingers through the information bits located in the highest bit among symbol data output from the first through third FIFOs and also showing the status of the three fingers and accordingly generates a selection control signal.
