PURPOSE: A set-top-box with a caption reproduction function and a method for performing reproduction are provided to reproduce caption data by using a set-top-box. CONSTITUTION: A set-top-box with a caption reproduction function and a method for performing reproduction comprise a caption extraction portion(206), a text generation portion(208), a mixing portion(210) and a control portion(202). The caption portion extracts caption data of video data decoded from an audio/video decoder of a set-top-box. The text generation portion generates OSD text data according to the extracted caption data. The mixing portion mixes video data from the audio/video decider and the OSD text data from the text generation portion. The control portion overlaps the text corresponding to the caption data on an outer display portion by controlling the caption extraction portion, the text generation portion, and the mixing portion. |
