PURPOSE: An electronic control unit(ECU) monitoring apparatus of an engine monitoring system is provided in which a personal computer(PC) is employed to store data into a memory of the ECU and monitor the result of an emulation conducted by the ECU using the data value stored in the memory of the ECU, to thereby significantly reduce a time period required for system development. CONSTITUTION: An ECU monitoring apparatus comprises a can board(10) connected to the ECU via a connector(11), the can board(10) transmitting to the ECU a data value transmitted from a PC via a can interface(12) so that the ECU performs an emulation, the can board(10) receiving the data value from a memory of the ECU until the ECU finishes the emulation and allowing the received data to be monitored onto a PC, and a PC interface(30) connected to a PC slot(20), the PC interface(30) outputting a chip select signal for utilizing a specific address of a can controller(13) by decoding a specific address of the PC, the PC interface(30) outputting a data read/write signal by performing a logic operation onto the chip select signal and a data read/write control signal output from the PC.
