摘要 PURPOSE: An optical disc apparatus is provided to lower the manufacturing cost by replacing an expensive laser diode drive IC with a cheap laser diode drive IC by irradiating a laser beam from the laser diode drive IC and by switching with a high speed laser beam by using a voltage from an acoustic-optic modulator. CONSTITUTION: An optical disc apparatus includes a laser diode drive IC(200), a laser diode(300), a laser beam variation unit(400) and a controller(100). The laser diode drive IC generates a multi-step current so that a predetermined level of laser beam can be generated from a laser diode of the optical disc apparatus. The laser diode continually generate the laser beam by the laser diode drive IC. The laser beam variation unit vary degrees of rotation and the intensity of radiation of the laser beam generated from the laser diode, and switches the laser beam with high speed. The controller controls the laser diode drive IC so that the laser beam can be continuously generated from the laser diode and the laser beam can be switched with high speed in the laser beam variation unit.
