PURPOSE: A method for controlling an output voltage of a monitor is provided to reduce the number of transformers by calculating and outputting first and second voltages from a transformer according to a mode of a monitor. CONSTITUTION: In a method for controlling an output voltage of a monitor, an alternating current(AC) voltage is transformed into a direct current(DC) voltage(S1), and the DC voltage is supplied to a transformer so as to be excited(S2). A first voltage(V1) and a second voltage(V2) from the transformer are read(S3). Whether horizontal and vertical synchronous signals are inputted from the exterior is judged(S4). If the synchronous signals are inputted, a monitor mode is set to a normal mode(S5). If the monitor is set to the normal mode, the first and second voltages are added(S6). The added voltage is supplied to each unit of the monitor(S7). If the synchronous signals are not inputted, the monitor is set to a standby mode(S8). In the standby mode, the second voltage(V2) is supplied to the monitor so as to perform a standby mode(S9,S10).
