PURPOSE: A portable checking reader is provided to prevent a charge trouble by storing checked particulars in the checking reader, which is sent to a computer of a checking center. CONSTITUTION: A portable checking reader comprises a charge coupled device(CCD) sensor(102) which recognizes and reads an used amount of a checking object and an address of a user. An analog-digital encoder(104) converts the used amount of the checking object and the use's address into digital data, and a RAM(106) stores the digital data. A central processing unit(108) judges whether the digital data in the RAM is processed normally, and a RAM(110) stores the digital data stored in the RAM(106) when the digital data in the RAM is processed abnormally. A digital-to-analog decoder(112) decodes the digital data stored in the RAM(106) into analog data when the digital data in the RAM is processed normally. An output circuit(110) outputs information indicating a digital process state to the used amount and the use's address, based on a judgement result of the central processing unit. A key input part(118) inputs a confirmation button of the digital process state according to the digital process state information outputted from the output circuit(116). A ROM(120) stores the digital data stored in the RAM(106) in response to the confirmation button input of the key input(108). A RAM controller(122) controls an operation of the RAM(106).
