PURPOSE: A method for setting an incoming alarm tone of a cellular phone, is provided to set a more various incoming alarm tone, by downloading a desired music file to set an incoming alarm tone by using a data communication. CONSTITUTION: A method for setting an incoming alarm tone of a cellular phone comprises the steps as follows. Whether download information is received from a computer is checked when a music file receiving mode is set by a user. A capacity of a music file to be received from the download information is confirmed, and whether the capacity of the music file is admissible for receiving is checked considering a capacity of a present remained memory. A non-permission message is controlled to be displayed in a displayer if the capacity of the music file is not admissible, and A permission message is controlled to be displayed in a displayer if admissible. Data are received after the display control, and a format of the received data is converted to a format enabled to process in a vocoder, and stored in a memory. After the format-converted data is stored, a user inputs menu addition information for an incoming music selection by displaying a message demanding an input of menu addition information for an incoming music selection, and then the addition information is stored after added to an incoming music selection menu of a memory.
