PURPOSE: An apparatus for driving a printer head is provided to prevent inferior printing due to abrasion by a backlash by uniformly maintaining a contact between a coupling pin and spiral grooves of a lead screw and reduce a printing standby time by removing the printer head unidirectionally along the spiral grooves of the lead screw. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for driving a printer head includes a printer head(100) axially supported on a guide shaft(200) for performing a recording on a recording paper, a feeding element for moving the printer head left and right, and a supporting element for supporting the printer head moving left and right by the feeding element to prevent flowing of the printer head, wherein the feeding element includes a lead screw(300) having an end part axially supported on a bracket and the other end part axially supported on a gear(G) and formed with spiral grooves(310) with a predetermined pitch on an outer periphery, a coupling pin(400) extended from a lower end part of the printer head to be inserted in the spiral grooves of the lead screw, and a stepping motor(500) provided with a pinion(510) engaged with the gear and driven to rotate to and fro.
