PURPOSE: A method is provided to play back an audio of a DVD-ROM without support from an external apparatus by switching a CD decoder and an audio MPEG decoder according to the kind of inserted disk. CONSTITUTION: In inserting a disk, a pile structure of audio data is detected. If the structure is decided as CD audio data, a playback is operated by switching into a CD decoder. If the structure is decided as MPEG audio data, a playback is operated by switching into an audio MPEG decoder. When an external command is existed, the data played back through an external data line are outputted. When an internal command is existed, the audio is played back by processing the internal command.
