PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a storage capacitor of the liquid crystal display device is provided to improve the pattern of gate lines. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device and a storage capacitor of the liquid crystal display device includes a substrate(200), a gate line, a gate insulator, and an electrode for a storage capacitor(28). The gate line includes a first region for the connection to the gate line which is formed on the substrate and a second region which is implemented on the outside of the gate line but in a way such as to make the gate line be connected to the second region. The gate insulator covers the gate line. The electrode for a storage capacitor(28) is formed on the gate insulator but in a way such as to be imposed on the second region of the gate line. The second region is further receded with respect to the first region by a predetermined length. A protection layer covering the exposed front face of the substrate includes the electrode for the storage capacitor(28).
