PURPOSE: A structure of an upward time slot is provided to improve a channel efficiency by coping with a traffic variation actively when a local multipoint distribution service(LMDS) system provides a multimedia service. CONSTITUTION: An upward time slot comprises a polling time slot(60), a protection time slot(61), a competition time slot(62), an adaptive time slot(63), and a dedicated time slot(64). The polling time slot(60) is located at a front stage of a time slot of an upward frame, and the protection time slot(61) is located at a next stage of the polling time slot(60) in order to prevent a signal of an asynchronous state from obstructing another time slot. The competition time slot(62) is located at a next stage of the protection time slot(61), and is used when a subscriber apparatus sends control data to a head-end unit. The adaptive time slot(63) is a time slot to send data a speech, and consists of a competition data slot and an engagement data slot. The competition data slot is to send short data at a data communication, and the engagement data slot is a slot to send long data through a public switched transfer network.
