PURPOSE: An apparatus is provided to strongly support a spool on which a raw material of a lead frame is wound, regardless of the size of the spool. CONSTITUTION: An adjustable supporting apparatus is used in a fabrication of a lead frame. A lead frame roll(R), namely, raw material of the lead frame is wound on a spool(SP) having a central hollow. The apparatus includes a reduction motor(M), a screw rod(10), a pair of pad supports(12), and a plurality of pads(14). The screw rod(10) is linked with an axis of the reduction motor(M) at one end, and connected with a bearing case(CA) at the other end. In addition, the screw rod(10) has a pair of screw threads each having opposite screw direction. The pair of pad supports(12) are coupled with the respective screw threads on the screw rod(10), and moved near to or far off each other along the opposite screw threads by rotation of the reduction motor(M). The pads(14) are commonly connected with the respective pad supports(12) by supports(16). The pad(14) push an inner wall of the hollow of the spool(SP) and thereby strongly support the spool(SP).
