MAGNETIC RECORDING HEAD DRUM WITH NOISE PREVENTING GROOVE

PURPOSE: A magnetic recording head drum with noise preventing grooves is provided to prevent the damage of a tape and a regular noise that lowers the playback quality of the tape. CONSTITUTION: An upper head drum(370) is formed in a cylindrical shape, and a head window(360) is placed on the lower circumference of the upper head drum. A head(350) is mounted in the head window. The head protrudes in a radial direction of the head drum through the head window. A noise preventing groove(390) is formed on the rear face of the head window. The noise preventing groove is collapsed in the central direction from the outer circumference of the head drum. The noise preventing groove is formed with sufficient depth and length to reduce the vibration of a tape. When the tape passes through the head window, a surface pressure applied to the contacting surface of the tape is eliminated. The noise preventing groove reduces the vibration of the tape for the tape to continuously travel.
