发明名称 METHOD FOR RESTRAINING EXPANSION OF SLAG IN ELECTRIC FURNACE
摘要 PURPOSE: A method is provided to restrain expansion of slag in an electric furnace by sprinkling water and cooling rapidly the molten slag in an electric furnace. CONSTITUTION: Ca3SiO5 in slag in an electric furnace is stable at high temperatures of 1250-2070°C, but decomposed at temperature less than 1250°C by the equation of Ca3SiO5 becomes Ca2SiO4+CaO. Herein, free carbon monoxide(CaO) is generated. The carbon monoxide causes expansion by hydration of the equation of CaO+H2O becomes Ca(OH)2. The molten converter slag is spread on a slag yard. Water is sprinkled to the converter slag to cool rapidly at high temperatures of the surface of the slag of 800-1000°C. Thereby, reaction is restrained and the amount of generating free CaO is reduced.
