PURPOSE: A control apparatus for gas turbine engine is provided to achieve a synthetic function of starting-up of the engine, charging of a battery, prevention against an overspeed of the engine, and checking an abnormity of the engine by a simplified configuration. CONSTITUTION: A control apparatus in a gas turbine engine which is started by a discharge current of a battery and generates a voltage using a rotatory force of the engine, the control apparatus comprising a startup/generator motor having functions of both startup motor and direct current generator, a switching unit for electrically connecting the battery and the startup/generator motor, a speed sensing unit for sensing a rotational speed of the gas turbine engine, and a control unit for starting the gas turbine engine, charging the battery, determining the state of the gas turbine engine from the rotational speed of the engine so as to prevent an overspeed of the engine, and controlling the switching unit according to the determination.
