METHOD FOR REDUCING SLIVERS ON SURFACE OF CONTINUOUSLY CAST PIECE OF STAINLESS STEEL

PURPOSE: A method is provided to reduce slivers without grinding a cast piece so as to decrease the cost. CONSTITUTION: A 304 stainless steel is adjusted to have 6 to 8% of delta-ferrite content by a formula which is delta-ferrite =(161+((wt%Cr+wt%Mo+1.5wt%Si+0.5Nb+18)/(Ni+30wt%C+30wt%N+0.5wt%Mn+36))+0.262)-161 when the 304 stainless steel is continuously cast. Also the thickness(d1) of a liquid mold slag film is adjusted to be that d1 is more than or the same as 0.1 and less than or the same as 0.15 by the formula to reduce the slivers on the surface of the cast piece. The d1 is 1000 multiplied Q/p(mm).
