PURPOSE: An apparatus for detecting system operating statuses is provided to detect the system operating statuses by monitoring signals controlling multicolored light emitting diodes(LED), in an exchange system for operating another operator terminal as presenting the present system operating statuses with the multicolored LED. CONSTITUTION: A system has many boards and installs a multicolored light emitting diode(LED) in each of the boards. Each of the multicolored LEDs presents a present operating status of a corresponding board. The system outputs a present operating status for each of the boards through an operator terminal operating the many boards. An apparatus for detecting system operating statuses using the multicolored LEDs, comprises a monitor(130), a register(140), and an operating system(OS)(150). The monitor monitors a signal status controlling the multicolored LED according to a present operating status of a corresponding board. The register stores the present operating status of the corresponding board according to data output from the monitor. The register outputs information on the present operating status of the corresponding board, when an initial status of the corresponding board is changed. The OS perceives the present status of the corresponding board having the register and the monitor, by the information on the operating status. The OS informs the operator terminal of the present status of the corresponding board.
