PURPOSE: An apparatus for selecting automatically a frequency of a mobile receiver and a method for controlling the same are provided to switch a current received broadcasting channel to a broadcasting channel nearest to a current location of a vehicle when reception status of the current received broadcasting channel is poor. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for selecting automatically a frequency of a mobile receiver and a method controlling the same comprises a location detection portion, a storage portion, a receiving portion, and a channel switching portion. The location detection portion detects a current location of a vehicle. The storage portion stores channel data of a broadcasting station according to each area. The receiving portion receives television signals. The channel switching portion switches the current received television channel to a broadcasting station channel nearest to the current broadcasting channel when the current received television signal is a bad status. |
