PURPOSE: A communication channel setting method is provided to enable a subscriber apparatus to set a communication channel in a rapid time regardless of various channel arrangement plans of each base state and each sector. CONSTITUTION: In a communication channel setting method, a subscriber apparatus commences a communication after applying a power (301). If a subscriber is a man of communicating first of all (302), the subscriber apparatus confirms the yes or no of own polling (304) in the condition that whether its self is polled from a frequency channel for a new subscriber (303). If the subscriber apparatus is not polled during a predetermined time, the subscriber apparatus moves into another frequency channel for the new subscriber, and waits own polling (305). If polled, a communication channel is set by sending information to time slot information of an upward stream to send a specified polling response (309). If a communication channel release is request, the subscriber apparatus sends the communication channel release requesting message with an identification of the subscriber apparatus and downward channel information communicating present, to a base station (310). The information of the channel communicating present is stored in a memory (311).
