PURPOSE: A subscriber authentication method of multimedia satellite communication system is provided to enable authentication procedure by storing subscriber's information requesting multimedia services in district center control processor and database. CONSTITUTION: A district center decides whether a subscriber is legally registered when a call request comes from a station. The subscriber is checked whether the subscriber is on a service currently, if the subscriber is found out to be a legally registered subscriber. Current status of the subscriber is changed to a service status, if the subscriber is not on a service currently. A successful service connection message is sent to a set top box. Database access time for authentication of a subscriber requesting a service is reduced, and stored subscriber information is used for authentication. A district center provides multimedia services by hooking up with Internet and manages network, and has control function. A multimedia terminal can be a personal computer, and a set top box acts as a terminal station.
