PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for detecting and correcting inferior pixels in an image sensor is provided to detect and correct inferior pixels generated during a manufacturing process of an image sensor. CONSTITUTION: A method for detecting and correcting inferior pixels in an image sensor comprises the steps of: reading and storing a first pixel value scanning electrically charges integrated during a first integrated time from pixels within a first line; reading and storing a second pixel value scanning electrically charges integrated during a second integrated time from pixels within the first line; reading and comparing the first and the second pixel values; outputting an error and storing an address of a corresponding unit pixel if a difference value between the pixels values is not generated; increasing a line address by 1 and repeating the above steps; and comparing an address of a current unit pixel with an address of an inferior pixel and correcting the inferior pixel. An apparatus for detecting and correcting inferior pixels in an image sensor comprises an inferior pixel detection portion, an inferior pixel address detection portion, an inferior pixel address storage portion, and an inferior pixel correction portion.
