PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling a drive amplifier current is provided to magnify usage time of a terminal using a battery, by controlling the drive amplifier current supplied according to outputs and modes in a code division multiple access(CDMA) and an advanced mobile phone service(AMPS) dual band system, to minimize power consumption generated in a drive amplifier. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling a drive amplifier current of a dual band mobile communication terminal, comprises a base band processor, a NAND gate(203), an amplifying transistor(319), and a bias controlling transistor(309). The base band processor outputs a first logic signal and a second logic signal. The first logic signal corresponds to a present power level of the dual band mobile communication terminal. The second logic signal corresponds to a present band mode. The NAND gate applies a NAND gating process for the first/the second signals. The amplifying transistor includes a first distribution resistor and a second distribution resistor. One end of the first distribution resistor is connected with a base and the other end is connected with a ground. One end of the second distribution resistor is connected with the base. The base is connected with an output line of the NAND gate in the bias controlling transistor. A collector is connected with power, and an emitter is connected with other end of the second distribution resistor in the bias controlling transistor. A third distribution resistor is connected between the emitter and the collector. |
