PURPOSE: A coding and demodulating method of using a table to an UNI message for an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) signal control in a wide band communication terminal, is provided to apply to a table driven type by forming data components composed messages, and each message as a table. The method is provided to change the table in adding primitive or message kinds, to add a process function of a corresponded message, and to save a ROM capacity by reducing a size of an object code by the process functions using functions such as Build_MAG and a verity_MSG, commonly. The method is provided to manage such as an error information, and primitives, messages, and information components as tables. CONSTITUTION: A coding and demodulating method of using a table to an UNI message for an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) signal control in a wide band communication terminal, contains steps. The first step is to receive a message. The second step is to test whether the received message is either a first primitive, a first standard message. The third step is to process the first primitive and to code as a second standard message, and then to process the first standard message and to demodulate as a second primitive, if the tested message is the first primitive message. The fourth step is to transmit the second standard message or the second primitive, which are coded or demodulated in the third step.
