PURPOSE: A process for preparing a powder detergent by neutralizing an alkali builder and an anionic surfactant in an air lifter and spraying a surface modifier on particles is provided which promotes productivity and produces uniform products. CONSTITUTION: A process comprises the steps of pouring an alkali bilder and an anionic surfactant and simultaneously neutralizing in an air lifter, pouring other raw materials, absorbing/granulating by injecting a surfactant, and simultaneously spraying a surface modifier on the surface of the obtained particles, wherein the one or more air lifters for absorbing air and conveying are equipped with an air flow directing agitation shaft with a liquid injecting apparatus, a powder pouring apparatus and an impeller. The detergent prepared by the process has an apparent specific gravity of 0.3 to 1.50 g/cc and is excellent in fluidity, solubility, yield, and detergency.
