PURPOSE: A method is provided to exactly control a tape traveling as a recording for a long time without an exact control of a capstan motor. CONSTITUTION: A rotation speed of a capstan shaft becomes a normal speed to record an image on a tape by driving a capstan motor upon inputting a record command for a long time. In arriving the rotation speed of the capstan shaft in the normal speed, a start of one frame pulse section is detected. After driving a rewinding reel in a right direction and compressing a pinch roller in the capstan shaft, an image signal of one frame is recorded in the data by controlling a record head. In detecting the start of the next one frame, the record of the image signal is stopped by controlling the record head. The pinch roller is separated from the capstan shaft, and the rewinding reel is stopped. When a count value becomes the previously set up count value, the processes are repeated.
