PURPOSE: A residual note amount calculating apparatus is provided to display an actual residual note amount calculated regardless of a residual amount of a reference note. CONSTITUTION: A residual note amount calculating apparatus comprises a fixed interrupt sensor(10) which is fixed at a position corresponding to the most inner side of a cash box(1). A mobile interrupt sensor(20) is mounted so as to be interlocked with a shifting of a support plate(4), and is shifted according a variation of a residual note amount. An interrupter(40) is reciprocated between the sensors(10,20). A slit driving part(60) rotates a slit(50) having a plurality of holes(50a) formed in a radial shape, and an interrupt sensor(70) for a count detects and counts a slit hole when the interrupter(40) is shifted between the sensors(10,20), and is spaced apart so as to be opposed to the slit. A micro computer(80) calculates the amount of remaining notes on the basis of the total number of the detected slit holes, and a monitor(90) displays the calculated value.
