PURPOSE: A method of upgrading a subscriber unit is provided to let users or developers upgrade software program of a subscriber unit easily by using EOC(Embedded Operational Channel) on a digital subscriber line network. CONSTITUTION: A subscriber unit(50), which enables to upgrade software program on a DSL network, comprises the parts of: a modem(51), which modulates and demodulates signals, which communicate with a centralizing device(60); a framer(52), which accepts signal frames form the centralizing device(60) via the modem(51), extracts data is relevant to an upgrade; a flash ROM(54), which can read and write; a CPU(53), which gets an upgrade data form the framer(52) and upgrade the flash ROM(54); and a large capacity RAM(55), which is used by the CPU(53) for the upgrade work of the flash ROM(54).
