PURPOSE: A method for controlling operation mode switching of a television phone is provided to facilitate the witching from a TV mode to a phone mode and save a battery by cutting off a voltage supplied to a TV module and related circuit. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises the steps of: alarming a user of a phone call in response to a call signal transmission in the state that a video or a voice signal reproduced from a TV unit is outputted through a display unit and a voice signal processor(14); disabling the operation of the TV unit in response to an inputted command and switching to a phone mode with the transmission of a phone call response message; and cutting off the ring tone generation by cutting off the output of ring tone data inputted through a forward channel in response to the inputted command(116).
