PURPOSE: An optical pickup device of wire driving method is provided to playback a CD and a DVD by installing an object lens and a hologram element for the CD and the DVD. CONSTITUTION: In an optical pickup device, a laser beam is radiated from a first or a second hologram element(12,14) selected by a user. The laser beam is changed a path vertically in a first or a second reflecting mirror(16,18). The laser beam is focused in a recording pit of a CD(Compact disk) or a DVD(Digital Video Disk) to be played back by collecting in a first or a second object lens(54,56). When the user selects a playback of CD, the laser beam radiated from the first hologram element(12) selects the CD through the first reflecting mirror(16) and the first object lens(54). When the user selects the DVD, the laser beam radiated from the second hologram element(14) plays the DVD through the second reflecting mirror(18) and the second object lens(56).
