PURPOSE: A method for controlling the offset of an optical disk player is provided to precisely adjust the offset by stabilizing focus/tracking error signals before adjusting the offset. CONSTITUTION: An object lens is located for irradiating an optical signal on a certain location of an optical disk, and a laser diode is turned on for irradiating a laser beam. The optical signals are output in an analog signal type by being reflected from the optical disk. And, focus/tracking error signals extracted from the analog signals are converted into digital for calculating average value. The average value is compared with the changing values of focus/tracking error signals. If the changing values are smaller than the average value, an offset adjustment is completed. If the changing values are larger than the average value, the offset signals included in the error signals are corrected.
