PURPOSE: A cowl box containing a reinforced impact absorbing function is provided to improve safety of a passenger through reducing bent amount of a dash panel to indoor of a vehicle by the cowl box of absorbing head-on collision impact. CONSTITUTION: A longitudinal surface of a lower portion of a cowl inner panel(20) is extended vertically. A vertical reinforcing member(30a) and a horizontal reinforcing member(30b) are welded to both surfaces of the cowl inner panel. Thus, sections having space units are combined in a box type. Then, structural strength of panels(10,20) composing a cowl box is improved. Moreover, the connected portions of the cowl outer panel(10) and the cowl inner panel, and the cowl inner panel and the horizontal reinforcing member are connected to both ends of a main reinforcing member(40) by using subsidiary reinforcing panels(41). Therefore, strengths of the panels are improved. A connected portion of vertical and horizontal panels is fixed on an upper end of a dash panel(50) for improving structural strength of cowl outer and inner panels, and vertical and horizontal panels.
