PURPOSE: An ignition switch for a vehicle is provided to be capable of easily locking/unlocking a steering wheel by upwardly pulling a magnetic bar through a sensing unit sensing a start key inserted into a lock body. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic rotor which receives power in forward/backward directions to generate magnetic force of directions contrary to the directions of the power is equipped in a switch body(10). A magnetic lock bar(13) inserted into a protrusion(14) projected downwardly from the switch body(10) is slidably mounted in its lengthwise. The magnetic lock bar(13) can be selectively slid under the control of an electronic control unit receiving input signals of a sensing unit(20) when a start key(30) is inserted into a seat(11). Preferably, an oilless bearing(15) is fitted into the protrusion(14) so that the magnetic lock bar(13) can be easily slid.
