PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fix an SOP(small outline package) type IC easily and securely. SOLUTION: This socket is equipped with lead terminals 2 projecting from confronting two sides of a socket body and making contact with electrical signal terminals 6, projection parts 4 provided on both end parts of the two sides of the socket body provided with the lead terminals 2 and supporting a main body of an SOP type IC 5, and fixing means 3 provided on confronting two sides not provided with any lead terminals 2 and supporting the main body of the SOP type IC 5. The fixing means 3 are each formed into a substantially rectangular shape, provided substantially in the middle or both end parts of the confronting two sides not provided with any lead terminals 2, and each have, on their upper part, a projecting portion 3a projecting toward a middle part of the socket body.
