PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sufficient track margin even when a reproduction track width or a sensitivity slope width varies to some extent by setting a sum of recording track widths and widths of two silent regions to be equal to or larger than a track pitch which is a distance between adjacent tracks. SOLUTION: A sum of widths of recording tracks to be used when magnetic data is recorded by a magnetic head and widths of two silent regions respectively generated on opposite sides of this track is set to be equal to or larger than a track pitch of this track. By setting the sum of the recording track width and the widths of the two silent regions to be equal to or larger than the track pitch which is a distance between adjacent tracks, an off-track margin becomes less dependent on a reproduction track width. Thus, even when the reproduction track width or a sensitivity slope width varies to some extent, a sufficient off-track margin can be ensured. Accordingly, a manufacturing allowance for the reproduction track width can be accepted even at a higher track density.
