PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device capable of coping with an abnormal situation of a fluorescent lamp with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: This discharge lamp lighting device lights a fluorescent lamp FL1 by high frequency-lighting by actuating an inverter circuit 13 and applying a high frequency voltage to the lamp. If it is detected that the fluorescent lamp FL1 is not mounted, the inverter circuit 12 stops its operation. It is possible that, when it is not used for a long time, an oxide film is formed between the fluorescent lamp FL1 and a lamp socket 4, an electric current is not sent to a passage through a current transformer CT1 because a contact resistance increases, and the inverter circuit 12 stops its operation. A direct current is sent to a current passage formed from a full wave rectifier circuit 11 to filaments FL1a, FL1b through a resistance R1 and a resistance R2. Since the contact resistance is destructed, even if the oxide film is formed and the contact resistance increases, the inverter circuit 13 is prevented from stopping its operation. |
