PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear light source device without causing unevenness in illuminance, due to the direct light passing through a first reflection part being emitted to the surface to be illuminated. SOLUTION: This linear light source device consists of a light transmitting member 1 and a light emitting element 3 which is brought into close contact with the approximate center of the light transmitting member 1 to make light incident on the light transmitting member 1, and the light transmitting member consists of a transparent material and is narrow and long and is provided with a first reflection part 12, which divides incident light into the right and the left in the lengthwise direction, at an approximately center part and is provided with a second reflection part 140, which includes a scattering reflection face for reflecting the light reflected and divided by the first reflection part 12 towards the upper face, in the lower face over substantially the entire lengthwise, and the light emitting direction of the light emitting element 3, and the exit direction of illuminating light are not made parallel.
