PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To handle a web as a reliable composed reference source by receiving a request including a relative time stamp indicating a time offset and sending the version of the corresponding electronic document. SOLUTION: A web browser 100 accesses information from one or more persistent web servers 140 and 150 through the Internet or worldwide web environment 130. A uniform resource locator(URL) for identifying a web resource is so reinforced as to include a time stamp. The web browser 100 and persistent web servers 140 and 150 has additional time stamp parameters and a user refers to an arbitrary web address having a specific target date and time. In this case, a request for the version of an electronic document which includes the relative time stamp indicating the time offset from specific time is received and the version of the corresponding electronic document is transmitted.
