PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively execute additional recording by detecting sub- information related with the kind of program information thereby setting the program information to be erasable when a kind by sub-information is matched with a kind set by an erasing kind setting step for setting the kind of erasable program information. SOLUTION: This method is provided with a step for detecting sub- information related with the kind of program information recorded in a medium, an erasing kind setting step for setting the kind of erasable program information and a step for comparing a kind by sub-information and the kind set by the erasing kind setting step to set the program information to be erasable when they are matched with each other. For example, the program-related information and date information which are first in a recording order are read from a RAM 8 and an erasable genre and present date information are read from a reference information part 10 at the same time. In the case when the genre in program-related information is matched with the genre from the part 10, the program information is judged to be erasable.
