PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent erasure of recording data recorded on tracks formed previously other than the track as the erasing object by setting a fitting position of a flying erase head for a magnetic head in a rotary drum depending on each track pitch of the recording track and erasing track. SOLUTION: An erase current controller 34A is provided within a head driver 34 and amount of side erase generated by the flying erase head 22C is controlled to always become constant. Moreover, the fitting positions for the magnetic heads 22A, 22B of the flying erase head 22C mounted to the rotary drum 21 is set based on the side erase amount of the flying erase head 22C and the track gap with the erase track formed with the previously formed recording track flying erase head 22C in view of improving image quality in the recording time.
