PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the screen of the monitor of an electronic camera easily visible and easily operable at the time of taking or reproducing pictures by surely preventing the contamination of the screen and surely protecting the screen when the electronic camera is carried. SOLUTION: The opening/closing of a door member 7 covering the screen 122a of a liquid crystal monitor is performed in an interlocking way with the operation of a main power button 8. At the time of taking or reproducing pictures, the button 8 is moved to its turning-on position. The button 8 is engaged with a shaft 12 projectingly provided for a rotary lever 14. The lever 14 is rotatably pivotally supported on a shaft 13 at one end and the other end of the lever 14 is engaged with a shaft 15 projectingly provided for the door member 7. When the button 8 is slid, the lever 14 turns and the door member 7 moves. As a result, the screen 122a of the monitor is uncovered.
