PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inrush current breaking device which can exclude deterioration and damages to elements on a circuit caused by an inrush current, in a facsimile or a copying machine or a printer or the like. SOLUTION: This inrush current breaking device has a protective circuit 5, which maintains the state that connection between a second cover switch 3 and components in a device to which components power is supplied via the second cover switch 3 is broken during a previously set time when the second cover switch 3 is turned on in accordance with the closing of a cover, and connects them after the previously set time (Td) has elapsed. For example, when a first cover switch 2 for the power line of low voltage like +5 V is turned on, a controller 4 constituted of logic circuits is started by the power line and outputs a signal which turns on a transistor constituting a switching circuit in a protective circuit after the previously set time (Td) elapsed.
