摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a device construction and a manufacturing process and to obtain a bright and beautiful, white and color picture display in a reflective and a semitransparent reflective liquid crystal device adopting an internal reflection mode provided with a reflection electrode, which is functioning also as a reflection plate, on the side of a substrate facing a liquid crystal. SOLUTION: The reflective liquid crystal device is provided with stripe-shaped reflection electrodes 11, a transparent insulating film 12 with a monolayer structure and an alignment layer 15 on a first substrate 10. The refractive index of the transparent insulating film 12 is set to be smaller than the refractive indices of the liquid crystal and the alignment layer 15. Furthermore, the film thickness of the transparent insulating film 12 is set thicker than a first specified film thickness which maximizes the reflectance for the multiple reflection of a laminated body comprising the reflection electrode for red light, the transparent insulating film and the alignment layer and is set thinner than a second specified film thickness which minimizes the reflectance of the laminated body for blue light.
